Attaching the Constrictor to Your Rifle

Dec 7th 2020

The Constrictor attaches to your rifle just like any other sling.  Quick detach (QD) sling swivels are generally the best solution but require a swivel socket to use.  Many AR-15 forearms have built-in sockets.  If not, you will need to add one via Picatinny, M-Lok, or Key-Mod attachment.  For more traditional rifles that do not have those attachment methods, a QD socket can be added, but it requires drilling a hole and installing the socket into the forearm of the rifle with epoxy.  While it's a more involved process, it's not difficult for a person with the correct tools.

Another solution for adding a QD swivel socket is the QD-Thingy from Cole-Tac. Simply being a steel QD socket with a lanyard loop and a length of paracord attached, the QD-Thingy can be put to work on many different types of rifles. It can be looped through holes in a handguard or completely wrapped about a rifle's forearm. Depending on the diameter of the forearm, you may need longer lengths of cord.  Due to the flexible paracord attachment, the swivel is free to move with the sling making a comfortable form of attachment.

If you're looking for another low-cost method that doesn't require any modification to your rifle, the Blue Force Gear ULoop may be your answer. Using a coated steel cable, it can wrap onto most any free-floated aluminum forearm with holes or lightening cuts. Once installed, it isn't quick to remove, so don't think of this option as fast-detach.  However, the ULoop is the least costly solution to use with the Constrictor because it doesn't require any additional hardware, such as a QD swivel.

HK-style or MASH hooks are other options that can be used with the Constrictor.  Like a QD swivel, they still need an attachment method to interface with the rifle.  You will need a metal loop for the hooks to lock onto.
